The amount of preparation needed varies from tooth to tooth. The position, shape, color, arrangement, and desired final design of the teeth are analyzed to determine the necessary range. Even in the same patient, the amount of preparation may vary from tooth to tooth.

Since veneer also has a certain thickness, adding it directly over existing teeth can make the teeth appear thicker. Therefore, if necessary, we adjust the tooth surface to make room for the veneer so that the final tooth does not appear excessively thick or protruding.

The decision is made based on the degree of protrusion, alignment, size and shape of the current teeth, degree of discoloration, occlusion, and desired final design.
